Tips

• Most general-audience web writing aims for a reading ease score of 60 or higher.
• Shorter sentences and simpler words improve both scores — that's most of what these formulas actually measure.
• Grade level estimates the U.S. school grade needed to easily understand the text; it isn't a judgment of quality.
